Brampton Music Theatre sweeps Bloom Awards

Another year of amazing talent in Brampton was marked at the Brampton Arts Council’s 2007/2008 Bloom Awards, June 26.
BMT’s recipients of this year’s awards include:

• Outstanding technical achievement in costumes and/or hair and/or makeup— Norma Morgan and Sherry Ross, Seussical Jr., Brampton Music Theatre Youth Troupe

• Outstanding technical achievement in lighting— Sean Rowe, The Wizard of Oz, Brampton Music Theatre

• Outstanding performance in a supporting role male or female— Susan Pringle, Miss Glitch and The Wicked Witch, The Wizard of Oz, Brampton Music Theatre

• Outstanding performance by a female in a leading role— Holly Taylor, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Brampton Music Theatre

• Outstanding music direction or choreography of a musical— Ashley Earl, Annie, Brampton Music Theatre Youth Troupe

• Outstanding direction of a play or musical— Michael MacLennan, The Wizard of Oz, Brampton Music Theatre

• Adjudicator’s Award #1: Outstanding performance by a juvenile— Jesse-Renee Mitri, Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical Jr., Brampton Music Theatre Youth Troupe

• Adjudicator’s Award #2: Outstanding achievement in stage management— Gerard Engson, Scott Abel and Christina DeOliveira, Annie, Brampton Music Theatre Youth Troupe

• Adjudicator’s Award #3: Memorable moments in a production— Beauty School Dropout, Grease, Brampton Music Theatre

• Adjudicator’s Award #4: Special theatrical achievement— Greg Golden, flight director, and the fly crew of Steve Kirk, Andrew Boss, Chris Davison and Bruce Brown, The Wizard of Oz, Brampton Music Theatre

Peter Pan Auditions – next week

Peter Pan Auditions

Brampton Music Theatre will be holding auditions for their fall show, Peter Pan. All are welcome.

The cast will consist of 50 to 60 people as young as 5 to as old as you feel.

You will be required to perform a small prepared monologue, a small dance/movement routine and to sing your best 16 bars of a music theatre uptempo or ballad piece. Please bring sheet music for our accompanist with your 16 bars clearly marked. Children under the age of 12 may bring a karaoke CD. A 1 minute prepared monologue is compulsory for those auditioning for a lead role.

Auditions and rehearsals are at Greenbria Recreation Centre at 1100 Central Park Drive Brampton.

Auditions Times:

Thursday July 17 starting at 7 pm
Sunday July 20 starting at 1:00 pm for afternoons and 6 pm for evening
Monday July 21 starting at 7 pm

Call Backs Tuesday July 22 and 24th beginning at 7:00

Show dates are November 12 – 15 at 7:30 pm, Saturday 1 pm matinee, plus two 10 am shows Thursday Nov 13 and Friday 14th.

All shows are at The Rose Theatre in Brampton.

SUMMER THEATRE CAMP 2008

July 14 – 18, July 21 – 25, July 28 – August 1, August 4 – 8, August 11 – 15, August 18 – 22

IT’S WILD, IT’S FUN AND HUGELY POPULAR!

Do you want to be heard? Do you want to have fun and play games? Learn how to use your voice and theatre games to create and build a character. This camp will focus on exercises that develop vocal flexibility, diction and projection, along with games to explore self-awareness, teamwork and to just have fun. Come dressed to roll on the floor, laugh, play, work hard and have FUN!!

5 DAY CAMP

* Children – ages 5- 13
* Camp Director
* Minimum 3 supervisors present at all times
* Performance Friday Night

♫ Short 30 minute play with Musical songs

♫ Children will remain at camp for dinner

♫ Friday night performance at 7:00
